Helen Okpala is a Certified Librarian and a graduate of Botany/Library & Information Science, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She is a SAP– Certified Solutions Architect, Cataloguer and Digitization Specialist. She is a one-time ALCTS Online Course Grant Winner for the course ‘Collections Assessment’, and ALCTS Programme Developer for a workshop webinar entitled" 'Google Cataloguing...' In 2015, she was a beneficiary of a Carnegie-funded Continuous Professional Development Programme hosted by University of Pretoria, South Africa. In 2006, she received a Niger State Governor’s Merit Award for developing a school library from scratch in Niger State, Nigeria. She is a member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Network and recently facilitated a workshop on ‘Understanding Climate Change’ for LIS final year students of University of Nigeria which earned her a Green Champion certificate from the U.S Department of State.
