Women in Crime: A Critical Review of Etiological Studies

By Aboki Associates

Summary

This work is a review and a critique of studies of the etiology
of female crime. The main focus is on the adequacy or
inadequacy of the theories and methods used by the
respective authors to arrive at their conclusions.
It is argued that the studies reviewed are handicapped
in their explanatory power by methodological problems and
that these problems derived, in part, from the inadequacies
of the theoretical frameworks used in the respective studies.
An attempt is made in the concluding section to suggest
ways in which future studies of the etiology of female crime
could improve on the explanatory power of earlier studies.
