High Hiv Sero-Prevalence and Associated Sexual Behavioural Risk Factors Among University Students in Southeast Nigeria: Our Experiences From on-Campus Vct Centres

Uploaded by Kelechi Nworie

High HIV prevalence is still dominant and increasing among youths around the Globe. This as well may be attributed to the unquenchable desire of most youths towards engaging in sexual experiences. Hence, this research article confirms this claim by showing that students in a southeast University, Nigeria had high HIV prevalence and exhibited an alarming rate of sexuality. The report will prove useful for health policy making both at the university administration and national level. It can also serve as a model to aid HIV prevention and intervention strategies in Nigerian universities.

Young Nigerian Researchers (YouNiR) is a Group that provides a focus for a collection of Nigerian Undergraduates, based within various department or field of study, in an emerging or established area of expertise. This Group was founded to appreciate distinguished scientific works, which dissemination and publication may lead to promoting applied and scientific knowledge, increasing awareness on the culture of scientific research, and may contribute to solving problems of certain priority at the local, regional and maybe international levels. In Nigeria unlike in most developed countries, Undergraduate Research has quite been neglected for a very long time; in light of this, YouNiR is encouraging every Nigerian Undergraduate regardless of age to participate and contribute to the world of scientific evolution.
