Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of education delivery removes the distance, age and job barrier and makes education available to those who, otherwise, would not have been able to cope. Reaching out effectively to these students otherwise called learners is another matter. Learner support system of ODL seeks to make life easy for the students to pursue their academic goals. This work aims at addressing the jobs of a learner support team and how best to make the learner comfortable in his pursuit for higher education.
Arguments have risen as to the quality of education given out through the ODL as compared to that of the f2f delivery mode. To this effect, proponents of the ODL has deem it necessary to evolve a system of quality assurance in ODL to make sure that quality is not compromised in the delivery of education through ODL. This work aims at detailing the quality control measures necessary to be put in place to guarantee quality education delivery in the ODL mode.
Information Technology has become essential to the sustainability and growth of businesses. This critical dependency on IT demands specific attention to IT governance comprising of leadership, organizational structures, and processes that ensure that an organization’s IT not only extends but also sustains its strategy and objectives (De Haes & Van Grembergen, 2009). Strategic IT planning process is now ever more considered a critical area of focus for sound governance of IT and a major component of corporate planning (Wilkin & Cerpa, 2012; De Haes, Van Grembergen, & Debreceny, 2013). Given the current stage of Strategic IS planning research, there is neither adequate literature available on frameworks or substantial foundation from research to derive a well-grounded process for conducting SISP (Teubner, 2007). This gap in literature provides a justification for the study of the processual element of SISP and reason for the research question- How can the COBIT 5 framework be employed to address process concerns in SISP efforts?
